Went for lunch on a Thursday. The place was very busy even though it was gone 1:30pm Service was fine, perhaps a bit too quick as our friends scampi and chips came out within 2 or 3 mins , however 'our' food was average. Two of us are vegetarian, the baked potato was fine however the other vegetarian options were (as has happened with many pubs since covid) limited, and the main choices tending to be vegan (with the idea this would suit both vegetarians and vegans which I can confirm is not the case). I had the vegan burger and to be honest it was pretty awful. A mush of what appeared to be avocado and something else green. Given that a burger will no doubt be a frozen premade item that they cook it would not hurt to keep some vegetarian ones in their freezer as well making their choices a bit more varied. To balance this our friend said the scampi and chips were fine but he did leave the peas as they were hard. Overall, the atmosphere of the pub was quite good and the staff were very friendly. Price is as you would expect, a lot more than they used to be. Vegetarian options: Poor

Called last minute to get a table for dinner as had family over. Got a table booked with no problems. Quick and friendly service with some great food. The connect 4 game on the tables is such a good idea (from the person who won 4 games in a row). Seems to be a popular venue! If you like traditional pubs and good grub, I would recommend.

Had a lovely lunch here in Nov 2023. The food was great and there was a good variety on the menu. We had a two course meal with a drink for about £25 per person. The beer battered fish and chips were devine. Dogs are allowed in the bar area but not the restaurant area. Vegetarian options: There were multiple vegetarian options, including a lovely goats cheese pie Parking: The pubs car park has a good number of spaces and there is some street parking for 3 or 4 cars directly outside. Wheelchair accessibility: The pub is on a slope. The carpark surface is hard but a little uneven, should be OK for wheelchair access. The front of the pub has a decked area for outside sitting and this includes a ramp to the entrance. Inside the pub there are no internal doors in the restaurant area and there's room to manoeuvre a wheelchair. Toilet access is OK but not you do need to go through a door to access it.

Brilliant roast dinner, wanted 3 meats but they had run out of beef, but the pork and chicken was lovely...just dropped one star as it was a little dry...but the rest was lovely.

Lovely friendly little pub, food was great with quick service despite being really busy when we visited. Definitely need to book at the weekends if you want a table indoors. Garden is a lovely little suntrap too.

Really lovely to sit outside here, it's a very pleasant spot. Food is amazing and service spot on. The only reason for 4 * is that I couldn't see any disabled parking spots and it was quite a struggle to get from the car park to the outside dining area... maybe there are some but we're already taken, in which case mentally upgrade to 5* 😁

From welcome to leaving, it was a pleasure to eat at this wonderful pub / restaurant. The Shepherd and Dog is on the edge of Stowmarket and technically it is in Onehouse, it feels very rural. Parking is limited, but you can park on the road. The staff were simply brilliant, and the food was divine. The menu has enough choice and variety to suit most. Very friendly service, as usual. I am a bit of a foodie and have eaten in many restaurants, in 23 countries in my 58 years on this earth. But the mushrooms in Stilton and garlic sauce were one of the best starters I have ever tasted.

Just enjoyed a lovely Birthday meal, food was brilliant, and the young man that took our order was excellent. Definitely be going again
